Electrical Contractor in York
Tell me what you want to achieve. I'll make it happen.
Most electricians ask what you want fitting. I ask what you're trying to achieve — then design the right solution using products and ideas you might not know exist. Trusted, tidy, and jargon-free.

How I Work
Creative Electrical Solutions
I don't just install what you ask for. I listen to what you're trying to achieve, then design the smartest way to get there.
1. You tell me the goal
"I want my living room to feel cosy." "I need this barn safe for horses." "Our shop lighting looks tired." I start with what matters to you — not a spec sheet.
2. I design the solution
I know products and techniques you likely don't know exist — from hidden LED lighting and smart scene control to app-managed EV charging. I bring the ideas.
3. I deliver it neatly
Clear estimate, clean installation, everything explained in plain English. I leave your space better than I found it — and make sure you know how it all works.

The Creative Difference
It's not just what I install — it's what I suggest
A few examples of what happens when you tell me the goal and let me figure out the how.

“We want this space to feel warm and inviting”
The customer had a stunning barn conversion with exposed beams and high ceilings — but the lighting was flat and lifeless. I designed hidden LED strips beneath the shelving, accent spots on the beams, and a statement pendant as a centrepiece. The whole lot runs through a smart scene controller so they can switch from "reading" to "entertaining" with one tap.

“I just want to charge my car at home”
That's what most people say — but there's more to it than plugging in a box. I walk you through the whole process: tethered or untethered? Which model suits your car and your driving habits? Where should it go on the wall — and will it look right there? Then there's the practical stuff: does your supply need upgrading, and what's the best cable route? By the time I'm done, you're not just getting a charger installed — you've made an informed decision you're happy with.

“The outside of our property feels unsafe at night”
Rather than just bolting a floodlight to the wall, I combined warm decorative lighting with PIR-triggered security lights and a dusk-to-dawn photocell. I also wired in an override switch, so the customer can keep the lights on continuously if they want — meaning the decorative lighting doubles as security lighting when needed. Practical, attractive, and flexible.

“We need a space that showcases our handcrafted jewellery”
A new jewellery shop in York city centre needed a complete electrical fit-out from scratch. I designed a perimeter track lighting system with individually adjustable spotlights, wired lighting behind Japanese shoji dividers to create a warm ambient glow, ran hidden power to the service counter for tills and engraving equipment, and replaced every wall socket to suit the new layout. The result? A space where the electrics are invisible and the jewellery is the star.

Simple things that I think matter — and that you should expect from any good tradesperson.
🔍
Clear Pricing
You'll know the cost before I start. No surprises on the bill, no awkward conversations at the end.
💬
Plain English
I'll explain what I'm doing and why. If you've got questions, ask — I'd rather you understood than just nodded along.
🏠
Respect for Your Home
Shoes off, dust sheets down, and I clean up after myself. Your home should look better when I leave, not worse.
✅
Quality That Lasts
I use materials I'd put in my own home, backed by a 12-month workmanship warranty. I want you to call me for the next job, not to fix the last one.
