The Man Behind the Brand
I'm Frankie. Nice to meet you.
Electrician. Problem solver. The bloke who'll explain what's going on — whether it's your home, your business, or your farm — without making you feel daft.

The long way round
I backpacked from Amsterdam to Toronto, repped in Ibiza, spent winters snowboarding. All of it taught me how to talk to anyone and stay calm when everything's going sideways. Then I spent 15 years in customer insight, ending up as Head of Department at a global academic publisher — learning what people actually needed, not what they said they needed. I got good at listening. Really good.
Then COVID hit, redundancy came, and I had a choice: another desk job or finally do something with my hands. I retrained as an electrician and something clicked. Every job I'd ever had suddenly made sense — the people skills from repping, the insight from publishing, the problem-solving. Not random chapters, but training.
Why I started this business
You know those quotes that seem too good to be true? The ones that magically double once the work's started? I founded Bright Sparks to be the opposite of that feeling. I'll tell you what it'll actually cost before I pick up a tool.
If something goes wrong at your house, yes it's going to cost money — but it's OK, because Frankie's here. You'll understand what's happening, you'll know what it costs before I start, and you'll feel looked after the whole way through.
What gets me out of bed? Getting someone's power back on at 10pm. Watching a homeowner's face when the lighting transforms their living room. Walking away knowing I gave my absolute best.
I'm not the cheapest electrician in York — but I might be the one you'll actually want to call back.
How I work
No Jargon
Plain English, always. If you don't understand something, that's my problem — not yours.
Tidy Work
Dust sheets down, mess cleared up, hoover round if needed. Point of pride.
Honest Pricing
Written estimate before I start. No surprises on the invoice.
The Right Fix
I tell you what you actually need — not what makes me the most money.
Properly Qualified
NICEIC Approved. City & Guilds across the board. Fully insured.
Creative Solutions
I think about what you're trying to achieve and find the best way to get there.
When I'm not wiring
I've just finished writing my first novel — a story rooted in Irish magic. I'm Irish, I speak Spanish (a leftover from Ibiza that stuck), and I'm learning Gaelic to reconnect with my roots. I have a genuine passion for good wine and cooking, so if you want to talk Malbec while I'm rewiring your kitchen, I'm your man.

Not 100% Happy? Let Me Make It Right
If something isn't quite right, or isn't what you expected, I genuinely want to know — because I can't fix what I don't know about. I'm in this for the long run, and I'd rather put something right than lose your trust. Just give me a call or drop me a message and I'll get it sorted.
Giving Back
Proud sponsor of Menfulness
The trades can be a tough place to talk about how you're feeling. Long hours, physical work, and the pressure to just get on with it — I know what that's like. That's why I sponsor Menfulness, a York-based charity that gives men a space to talk, exercise, and look out for each other.
I sponsor their annual York 10k team — providing the running shirts, helping set up from 6am, and making sure everyone's fed and watered so that every penny raised goes straight to the charity. In 2025, 32 runners took part, 15 volunteers gave up their Sunday morning, and together we smashed the £2k fundraising target.
If you or someone you know is struggling, check them out. There's no need to suffer in silence.
