York's NICEIC Approved Electrician
Tell me what you want to achieve. I'll work out how to get you there.
No jargon. No hidden fees. No call centres. Just a qualified electrician who turns up, does the job properly, and leaves the place tidy.
What I Do
Electrical services for homes, landlords & businesses
EICRs
Electrical Installation Condition Reports for landlords and homeowners. From £180+VAT. Every circuit tested, not just signed off.
Consumer Unit Upgrades
Old fuse board? I'll replace it with a modern consumer unit with full RCD protection. Fully certified.
Full & Partial Rewiring
From a single circuit to a complete house rewire. Written estimate before I start, no surprises on the invoice.
EV Charger Installation
Home EV charging fitted properly, by a City & Guilds 2919 qualified installer. OZEV-approved.
PAT Testing
Portable Appliance Testing for businesses, offices, hospitality venues, and landlords. Full written record issued same day.
All Electrical Work
Lights, sockets, showers, garden electrics, smart doorbells, commercial installs and more. If it's electrical, I do it.
About the Work
What I actually do, and how
I'm Frankie, a sole-trader NICEIC Approved Contractor in York. I retrained during COVID after 15 years in customer research. That background matters: I'd rather explain something properly than leave you nodding along.
Homes
Consumer unit upgrades, rewires, EV chargers, fault finding. If you've just exchanged on a house, the window before you move in is the best time to get the work done — everything accessible, no furniture to shift.
Landlords
EICRs priced by circuit count, not by bedroom. The fine for non-compliance is up to £40,000. I'm the only electrician in York recognised by the YRLA, so the inspection is done properly, not just paperwork.
Commercial & agricultural
Shop and office fit-outs, farm wiring, equestrian yards, rural estates. IP ratings, earthing, cable specification for conditions that destroy domestic-grade kit in a season.
Not sure whether I do the job you need, or want a second opinion on a quote? Give me a call — free advice, no obligation.
For Landlords
Electrical compliance for York landlords, in one place
The Landlord Compliance Hub covers what the law requires, EICR pricing by circuit count, HMOs, the Renters' Rights Act, and the two things I do for free to save landlords a headache. Clear answers, no jargon, written by the electrician who'll actually turn up.

Why Bright Sparks
What makes me different
I tell you what it costs before I start
Written estimate, agreed upfront. The figure I give you is the figure you pay. If anything changes, I tell you before I do it. Never at the end of the job.
I'll explain it in plain English
If you don't understand something I've said, that's on me, not you. I'd rather take the time to explain than leave you nodding along.
I leave the place how I found it
Dust sheets down, mess cleared, hoover round before I go. Your home, not a building site.
I'm qualified to do it properly
NICEIC Approved Contractor. City & Guilds 18th Edition, Inspection & Testing, EV charging. My name's on the certificate, so I care about getting it right.
York's landlords know where to find me
I'm the only electrician in York recognised by the York Residential Landlords Association. That recognition isn't bought; it's earned through the work.
I came to this properly
I retrained during COVID after 15 years in customer insight. I understand what it's like to not know what you're looking at, and I think that makes me a better electrician.
