Supporting York
Bright Sparks of York is a York business, and I want the work to mean something to the city it comes from.
The cause I put most behind
The cause I put most behind is Menfulness, York's men's mental health and suicide prevention charity. They bring local men together to talk, exercise and get counselling when they need it, and they've helped hundreds of York men through some of the hardest times of their lives. It matters in my trade in particular, where too many men carry too much in silence.
My support so far
My support so far has been ad hoc: sponsoring the York 10K for the past two years and this year's York Dragon Boat race. As the business grows I want to put that on a firmer footing, and my intention is to commit 5% of profit to Menfulness once Bright Sparks is able to sustain it.
The direction I've set
The bigger this business gets, the more it puts back. That's the direction I've set, and it's in writing here so you can hold me to it.
If you or someone you know needs support, Menfulness is a good place to start. There's no need to carry it alone.
