When do you need three-phase?
Three-phase power delivers three times the capacity of a single-phase supply at the same voltage, and is the standard supply for heavy equipment. If you're running grain dryers, irrigation pumps, workshop machinery, air compressors, or commercial kitchen equipment with high motor loads, the single-phase supply to a domestic or light commercial property is usually inadequate.
Getting a three-phase supply connected involves a DNO (Distribution Network Operator) application — in this area that's Northern Powergrid. They assess the existing infrastructure, specify what's needed, and quote for the connection work. I handle the application, liaise with Northern Powergrid, and carry out all the electrical installation work on the customer side of the meter.

Full DNO application to Northern Powergrid for new or upgraded three-phase connections. I manage the process and liaise on your behalf, including G99 notifications where required for generation equipment.
Distribution boards
Three-phase distribution boards with the right protection for each circuit. Sub-boards in individual buildings fed from the main distribution point. Everything sized for the load.
Agricultural machinery
Grain dryers, irrigation pumps, feed augers, compressors, and other high-demand agricultural equipment. Correct cable sizing, motor protection, and isolation arrangements.
Workshop & industrial
Three-phase supplies for engineering workshops, woodworking equipment, welders, and lathes. IP-rated enclosures where the environment requires it.
Commercial kitchen equipment
Three-phase connections for commercial ovens, combi steamers, and high-draw catering equipment. Correct cable sizing, mechanical protection, and isolation within 2m of the appliance.
